Psalm 34

16 August 2026 · Pastor Dan Sczebel · Psalm 34

David wrote this psalm after God delivered him from danger, and it moves outward from there. Personal relief becomes an invitation to the whole congregation to taste and see that the Lord is good. Then it turns to teaching: what it means to fear the Lord, and what God does for the brokenhearted and the crushed in spirit.

Psalm 27

2 August 2026 · Steven Bauwens · Psalm 27

Psalm 27 opens with confidence. The Lord is light and salvation, so whom shall I fear. It does not stay there. By the middle of the psalm David is pleading not to be abandoned, and it closes on waiting, which is the harder discipline. This is a psalm about holding onto courage when the circumstances have not yet changed.

Psalm 51: broken bones can rejoice

26 July 2026 · Pastor Josh Dekker · Psalm 51

This is David’s confession after Nathan confronted him over Bathsheba. It asks for mercy without excusing anything, and it asks for more than forgiveness: a clean heart, a right spirit, restored joy. The title points at verse 8, where the bones God has broken are the same bones that rejoice.
